                         ISSUE #125
           WEEK OF NOVEMBER 19, 2000
                   <HI EVERYONE!>
SPECIAL NOTE!!!  Hi all, this is Nothlit from TNGtA.  Sorry this issue is a
couple of days late, but Guillermo e-mailed me yesterday asking if I could cover
AWN for the next couple of months while he is, shall we say, on temporary leave
due to poor academic standing.  ;-)  Anyway, Guillermo plans to be back around
February, 2001, so I'll be writing AWN until then!  (Please, don't groan so
loudly...)
It took me a day or so to gather up the news, poll, and forum responses, so on
with the issue...
&&&&&&&&&
AW FORUM
&&&&&&&&&
Last week's forum:  Do ghostwriters mean smaller books?  Why or why not?
"I think they mean a little bit smaller books, cause ghostwriters aren't K.A.,
obviously, so they can't write as good as her.  I guess......"
  -- Andrew
"Ellen Geroux does nice long books, but some of the other Ghostwriter get done
in about 120 pages and that just stinks."
  -- Moose1701
I personally don't think the ghostwriters mean smaller books.  I just think it's
simply that K.A. is running out of really good ideas, so it's harder for
*anyone* to make them fuller and more interesting...
This week's forum question is:  If the series DOES end with #54, what will you
do with all your spare time?  Any other series?  ;-)
Send in your forum responses to aw_newsletter@hotmail.com with "forum" as the
subject! You can also respond online at the AWN website,
http://awn.ani-news.com !  Thanks!

AW POLL
%%%%%%%
Last week's poll question was:  Would it be better to have #54 "to be continued"
in Megamorphs #5, or should it be a solo book?
continued	80 %
solo		20 %
This week's poll question is:  Would you read a new K.A. Applegate series
(besides Everworld) if Animorphs ends soon?
Send in your poll responses to aw_newsletter@hotmail.com with "poll" as the
subject! You can also respond online at the AWN website,

NEWS
======
-- TITLE FOR ANIMORPHS #53
   For those of you participating in Ani-News.com's "Animorphs Journal," you may
want to avoid this.  The title of Animorphs #53 has been announced by
BarnesandNoble.com to be "The Answer."  This has a sense of finality to it, so
it may be that the series really IS wrapping up soon.  We'll have to wait and
see.
-- MORPHZ TO RELEASE MAJOR DEC. 1 UPDATE
   Jeff of MORPHZ has announced that his site will be posting an update of major
importance to the series and its future on December 1st.  He's been holding back
with this individual piece of news until then per Scholastic's request, but he
has mentioned that Scholastic has a major new marketing plan for the end of the
year to keep old readers interested and possibly draw in new members.  This
really could swing either way in regards to the end of the series.
-- HARRY POTTER #5 COULD BE DELAYED EVEN LONGER
   A recent news article states that J.K. Rowling, who is already working on
Harry Potter #5, may not have the finishing touches done until two years from
now.  She says she doesn't want to be "working against an artificial deadline."
One possible title of the book that is currently in the works could be "Harry
Potter and the Order of the Phoenix."
-- NEW COVERS FOR ANIMORPHS #50 AND EVERWORLD #11
   MORPHZ has acquired two new cover scans.  The scan for Animorphs #50 The
Ultimate is more accurate, with the cover quote, Scholastic logo, and AniTV
emblem in their places, but has less quality than earlier scans.  You can find
it at:
http://www.morphz.com/book/books/bk50big.jpg
   They also have a larger scan of Everworld #11 Mystify the Magician than was
previously available, and you can catch a glimpse at:
http://www.morphz.com/posts/ew11big.jpg
-- COOL ANIMORPHS FAN ART
   I was e-mailed today by Helen who sent along 5 pictures she drew of the
Animorphs.  I think they're pretty darn good, and maybe you will too.  You can
feast your eyes at:

-- THE ANIMORPH WHO DIES
   A lot of discussion has been stirred up since the revelation in The Ellimist
Chronicles about an Animorph who dies.
"I was sorta thinking it might be David..he was an Anbimorph for a whiule, and
he may die soon (If rachel is lives in 48, I don't have it yet!), but that is
absolutely not how he'd act...actually I don't know. I guess rachel makes
sense."

-- VIOLENCE IN THE BOOKS
   In response to a forum question a couple of weeks ago, Misty wrote in to say,
"I think that the violence in the books is necessary. Perhaps you think that
young children should be protected from this level of violence, but that all
depends upon the maturity of the child.  Sure, 4 and 5 year olds should not be
hearing these kinds of things.  But the 10, 11, and 12 year olds definitely
_should_ be.  I think it's a wonderful thing.  THey are learning that war is
_not_ glorifying.  Soldiers who want to be in a war have visions of glory and
bravery, and medals in their heads.  These books show how horribly awful war
really is.  And it shows it to the children that are going to grow up and
control our future!  So before you say they should take out the violence, think
about what you're saying.  These books teach a good lesson, but they do it in a
way that no parent or teacher truly can.  In a book that the child finds
interesting and fun to read.  :)"

This site isn't much to look at right now, but it has a great message, and I
think it's cool that someone who's 22 actually took the time to reserve that
domain name that was mentioned in, oh what book was it?  I don't remember, but
oh well...

CLOSING REMARKS
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Thanks for reading this week's issue, you guys!  I hope you enjoyed it as much
as you do one written by Guillermo.  PLEASE SEND IN THOSE FORUM AND POLL
RESPONSES!  I want to have so many that I have to recount them by hand and look
for hanging chads!  And make sure all those overseas ballots are postmarked.
Er...  Whatever.
Anyway, until next week,
Nothlit
< QUOTE OF THE WEEK >
"If elected I will bring much-needed dignitude to the White House."
- George W. Bush
Dignitude?  Hmm...that's a new one.  (Don't worry, I'll be giving equal
stupidity time to each candidate.)
