                     ISSUE #130
             WEEK OF JANUARY 7, 2000

                   <HI EVERYONE!>
By now all of you should have received an email from me regarding the
switch-over from Hotmail to eGroups.  This is a fairly minor thing
for you, since you don't have to do anything to be switched
over...it's all done by me.  What I've done is taken all 400+ e-mail
addresses and created an eGroup mailing list with them that will
allow me to send AWN much, much quicker and easier, and it will be
possible to create polls and such on the eGroups website, but I'm not
sure if I will do that or not since Tyler over at Ani-news.com does
such a great job with that!  ;-)

Anyway, if you're worried or concerned or confused about this whole
eGroups thing...don't be!  If you're reading this message right now,
everything has gone just fine.  :)

Now, on with AWN...

&&&&&&&&&
AWN FORUM
&&&&&&&&&
Last week's forum question was:  What are your predictions for
science and medicine for the next 100 years?

YAY!  There were tons of forum responses this time!

"Well, hopefully there'll be a cure for Cancer! and maybe we'll be
able to send astronauts to different solar systems and stuff like
that. And maybe a cure for the Chicken Pox (YUCK!) something along
those lines."
-- Steph

"I think teir will be a cure for cancer, Cistic Fibrosis(i have
that), and aids...as well as better pain relievers and birth control
pills...thats just a beginning!"
-- Trent

"well, even though medical science could reach an era where medicine
would allow a person's life span to be extended, many people would
probably not be interested in the medicine itself. would you all?
past 100 years of age, would you take a medicine to live any longer?
most people would not be near physically ability, others (such as
myself) would not even try to do it. i'd rather live life how it was
intended. medicine within the next 100 years will most likely change
a person's life. but how long will it take before it is open to the
public? how long will it take for medicine to be inexpensive?
experiments have been done on specimens to test out medicals theory.
are these accurate? how can an animal base theories on people?"
-- gookgeek

"I hope they have the cool skin regenerater thing they have on Star
Trek. Those things are SO cool!"
-- Carly

"Well, I think that in the next 100 years .. well let's sidetrack a
minute for something.. in 1900 there were no airplanes, cars were
new.. and...other stuff. 2000. Men on Mars is a possibility,
commercial spaceflight seems to be in the not-too-distant future,
computers everywhere.. Imagine that change a few times over, and
that's how I think science and medicine will change."
-- Anim0rph2

"In a hundred years, I honestly think that human will no longer be
alive on earth at least. I think we will have destroyed our selfs and
earth by thts time. There. That's my pesimistic thought for the day."
-- Reana

This is the first in probably a long line of "shrine" sites that will
be going up to forever remember Animorphs, but this one stands out!
You just have to watch the all-new original Animorphs movie at this
site called "Animorphs: The Chicken."  IT'S GREAT!!!

<QUOTE OF THE WEEK>
-- "The chair thanks the gentleman from Illinois, but...hey."
-- Vice President Al Gore, acting as president of the Senate,
rejecting Illinois Rep. Jesse Jackson's objection to the Florida
electoral vote...ironic isn't it?
