                         ISSUE #138
           WEEK OF March 25th, 2001

                   <HI EVERYONE!>
If you haven't noticed, for the past four weeks I've been leaving
hints as to a certain something. A certain something that has been in
AW twice before. HINT: the Oscars! Keep reading this week's issue to
find out what it is! It's been a big week for news, so check that out
too!

&&&&&&&&&
 AW FORUM
&&&&&&&&&
Last week's forum: what category would you most want to see in an
Animorphs award ceremony and who would be the nominees?

"Most Unknown Character or somehting, I want to know who Professor
Powers was..!"
- Anim0rph2

"Keeping things short: Best Frontal Cover."
- gookgeek

"Umm... *sweatdrops* I think that it'd be nice to have funniest
aquireing moment -or something like that- Nominees: Tobias in book #
15 w/ the "dolphin rodeo"; Marco in book #51 w/ the frog and the
ducks; and Jake in booke #1 w/ the tiger."
- Crystal

"Well, they could have a "best quote" or something like in the
Andalite Chronicles where Elfangor is talking at the end, also
probably one from #52, but I haven't read it yet, so I'm not sure
where."
- CBrown5257

"Okay, I don't have any "serious" ideas, but I've got a few funny
ones. I think Animorphs could win an award in "Best Book Written In
First Person" (all the books are in 'first person'), "Best Gibbering
Between Main Characters" (Marco and Rachel), "Best Bird Narrator" (if
you can't guess that one, you obviously haven't read the
books), "Best 62-Book Series" (yes, it'll be 62 books... counting
Megamorphs and Chronicles but not Alternamorphs), "Best 6-pack of
Main Characters" (please. You haven't counted them yet?!), "Best
Perfectly-Logical-but-Supernatural Space-Time-Adapting Being" (yawn.
Three guesses), and finally "Best Series Ending Year 2001". I don't
have any nominees except Animorphs for any of the awards, but that
just increases Animorphs' chances to win..."
- Blue Dragon

"Gee, give us something hard. Heaven forbid we should have to THINK
once in a while! Fine, fine, just a sec... How about "Most Poplar
Series Turned To Ghostwriting" or "Best Illstraions clashing with
book descriptions" or, I GOT IT! "Most Airhead Writer" (Come on.. she
is. Have you read the Ask KA stuff? How many times has she wrote
contridictionary stuff and said "Ask Ax" or "I guess I forgot"
or "Printing Error"{come on! isn't that sad?}) Well, here's my 3
cents!"
- Reana

"Best Self-Pitier. hmm.. itd b hard 2 choose between jake and Tobias.
dont get me wrong, theyre my favs, but they can b really annoying
sometimes."
- Steph :-)

This week's forum question is: does friendship have a big role in the
Animorphs team? Why?
Please, send in your forum responses to aw_newsletter@hotmail.com
with "forum" as the subject.

%%%%%%%
 AW POLL
%%%%%%%
Last week's poll question was: should AW end when Animorphs ends?

Yes 3
No 6

This week's poll question is: I know it's kinda early to tell, but do
you think Remnants has what it takes to have over 6 books? Send in
your poll responses to aw_newsletter@hotmail.com with "poll" as the
subject.

-- ANI SITE COMES BACK!
Now as you probably know, last week Ani-News.com was deleted.
However, with the enormous support the site got and the many emails
to Tripod, they have fully restored the site! Yes, Ani-News.com is
back thank goodness and so is the AWN site! Tyler wanted me to thank
everyone here who helped to bring back the site by writing to Tripod,
we all appreciate it! https://aninews.tripod.com/aninews.html

-- REMNANTS
Huge news on the Remnants front, we got the cover, a summary, and
just plain Remnants info!
First, thanks to Jeff, in the first book (The Mayflower
Project), "the 80" are assembled. The 80 are made up of doctors,
scientists, engineers and their families. There are also a few people
there who were not actually invited. In book two, the survivors wake
from their travel in space. Some of these people have noticable
alterations from mutations. Some of these alterations are known in
the second book, and some will be revealed later on in the series.
And even more will wake up normal but will then change for the worse
later on. We also got insight on two of the characters in the series.
These are 2Face and Jobs. 2Face is an Asian-American female with a
heavily burned face and worries she won't fit in (she's possibly 14
years old). Jobs, is a normal everyday white boy with blond hair.
Jeff also comments that "Awakening" or "Arrival" would be a good
title for book #2.

Thanks to Mel and Jeff, it's the official summary for Remnants #1 The
Mayflower Project, coming out in June!

FIVE
It's coming.
FOUR
Silently falling through space.
THREE
Too large to divert.
TWO
It will destroy Earth.
ONE
And there's nothing anyone can do about it.

It's 2011. An asteroid is on a collision course with the earth. And
eighty people have been given the opportunity to survive. To leave
the planet before the world ends.
Jobs isn't quite sure of what's going on. Just that he and his family
are a few of the lucky ones chosen to board a revamped space shuttle.
A shuttle that will leave Earth just before the final impact. No one
knows where they're going. Or if they'll make it there at all.
Because there isn't a lot of time for questions. And there are fewer
answers. . . .

Also thanks to Mel and Jeff, as well as Jonathan Barkat and Ursula
Albino, the first image of the first Remnants cover! You can see the
original copy here at Morphz: http://www.morphz.com/posts/rem1big.jpg
and a "fixed up" version at NGtR:
http://remnants.virtualave.net/images/rem1big.jpg

Jonathan Barkat created the cover and I've found an information page
of Jonathan that includes his biography and some of his other work:

-- OS ANSWERS SOME QUESTIONS
In the Animorphs Xtreme section of the Official Site, Ask The
Informer has been updated with new questions and answers. Some of
these questions have been asked many times before and now we get the
(vague) responses. On the subject on who dies, a fan narrows down the
victim to Rachel and the Informer hopes the Ellimist is mistaken. Did
Taylor die at the end of #43? We don't know, "the fall may have
mangled her body", but because of her skull, if Taylor isn't alive we
know the sub-Visser Yeerk inside is. Did Rachel kill David in the end
of #48? Well, "Rachel can be agressive, but taking a life on
purpose" is a bad thing. Do the Animorphs really live in New Jersey?
The article you read was "re-printed" in a NJ newspaper that
was "originally in a local paper where the Animorphs really live."
See, I knew it! On another note, The Forum has been taken over by the
Yeerks and will no longer be updated. Their poll question is new
though, http://apps.scholastic.com/animorphs/forum/anipoll1.asp

-- #51 REVIEW
As promised, here is my review of #51 The Absolute:

Not a bad book. With the end of the series coming, the Animorphs last
fully narrated books have been awesome! However, this one was not as
awesome. The ghostwriter did a fantastc job and everything, and the
Animorphs are finally getting smart. The book was good and it had
some great battles, but it lacked the "thing" or "spice" that the
most recent books have had. #51 is organized and action packed and it
wasn't borin, but the planning of the Animorphs plan was so un-
planned, that it didn't seem real. And although the story wasn't
boring but had plot holes, the writing was almost written by a twelve
year old at other times it seemed like a 45 year old. Marco's humor
also lacks a bit, I miss K.A.'s "joue de vive". And you think some
normal people in the town would notice a hoard of tanks pounding down
the street. I can't wait when K.A. writes her own in #53.

I am now reading #52 and a review could appear next week, so look out
for it!

+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
 ON THE BOOK CHARTS
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
#52 The Sacrifice comes on the Top 150 Book Charts this week at 103,
from 202 last week.

And here's an interesting note, what's the number one selling book in
the USA this week? It's "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find
Them", "Quidditch Through the Ages" came in at third!
